Culinary Eye catered lunch for me and my bridal party on the morning of my wedding. I spoke with John briefly over the phone before the big day to go over some ideas in terms of what to serve. He had a carefully planned menu to me within the hour! It was so nice to work with a vendor who took care of everything, showed up on time and was relaxed and responsive all the time. The food John prepared was delicious, filling, and just what we all needed for a very long day : ) I've also had the opportunity to see John working in the kitchen and, even then, he's relaxed and having fun! It is funny (but not unexpectedly so) how each chef sets the tone for the classes. Take, for example, Chef John Silva and his Summer Mediterranean Dinner class. He has a quiet way about him. Quiet, yes, but shot through with a gentle, if wry, sense of humor. Which made learning how to cook everything from Toasted Quinoa Tabouleh to Fried Pastry Twists with a Honey, Sesame, and Lemon Sauce at his cooking class such a delight.
Almost Vegetarian

John made my sister's wedding shower perfect. My sister enjoys hosting, good food and presentation so I wanted an event that would stand up to her meticulous standards and discerning palate. John did that and more! He arrived in advance, fabulously prepared, in great spirits and with wonderful fresh ingredients...he transformed our kitchen into a professional cooking facility, with mouthwatering hors d'oeuvres that were beautifully presented. He was very knowledgeable about everything from cooking methods to ingredients to how to best cut...it was a perfect blend of humor, instruction, group involvement and finally amazing, diverse and elegant food creations. This was the best event-planning decision I have ever made!
