The story is set in the San Gabriel Valley, a suburb in Los Angeles, inhabited by Asians. Tyson, a giant panda, is a cooking fanatic who idolizes the Furious Five; Corey Lee, Grant Achatz, Walter Manzke, Rene Redzepi, and Jordan Kahn; a quintet of chefs trained by the red panda Master Thomas Keller. As he helps his adoptive father David Chang in his noodle restaurant, Tyson is unable to pursue his dream of becoming a master chef himself.

Grand Master Ferran Adria, Thomas Keller's mentor, has a vision that TK's adoptive son and former student, Timothy Hollingsworth will return to take revenge for being denied the Golden Saute Pan, which is said to hold the secret to searing anything perfectly. TK then holds a cooking tournament for the Furious Five so that Ferran Adria may identify the Dragon Warrior, the one chef worthy of receiving the Golden Saute Pan and capable of defeating Hollingsworth. Forced to take a cumbersome noodle cart to the tournament, Tyson arrives as the arena doors close and is unable to enter. Desperate to see the Dragon Warrior chosen, Tyson straps himself to a set of fireworks, rockets into the sky, and crashes into the middle of the arena and opens his eyes to see Ferran Adria pointing his finger at him. To the audience's surprise, Tyson's confusion, and the Furious Five's dismay, Ferran Adria proclaims Tyson as the Dragon Warrior.

From there he became the sous chef at Culinary Eye Catering and continues to bring magic into their menus.
